A pass that few have crossed is located about 24 kilometres away from Hanle. Photi La is a place that lies near to the Indo-Tibetan border. At 5,524 meters (18,124 feet) above sea level, it provides a breathtaking perspective of the Hanle valley.

The village itself is where the pass’s exit is located. The last 5 kilometres of the ascent are particularly difficult since they are so steep. there are posting signs by the Indian army notifying people that the ILP zone stops here and that they are not permitted to go any farther as you approach closer to the summit.

Umiling La

The region surrounding the Umling La Pass is completely deserted and free of human habitation. You can feel the winds hitting your face from two directions simultaneously as you cross the pass. You’ll always be on edge because of the vistas at the Umling La Pass and on the way there. Of course, choosing to travel across this pass is not something to be taken lightly. The pass is dangerous as well as attractive. Your heart will be beating furiously the entire time, and you will feel an unbelievable burst of adrenaline. But if you can get over all of these worries, you’ll have an unforgettable experience.

Indian Astronomical Observatory

The second-highest observatory in the world is located at the Indian Astronomical Observatory, which is close to the village of Hanle in Ladakh, India. The Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, runs this observatory primarily from a distance. A guest accommodation is close to the foothill and the observatory is situated on top of a hill. If you know the correct individuals from the government, you can only stay at the guest house. Engineers stationed there will give you a tour of the observatory and demonstrate the equipment.
In Hanle, there are hardly any vehicles that produce pollution. Because of how little pollution there is in this town, the stars shine brightly at night. You can simply stand there in utter awe as you observe the brilliant stars that fully fill the sky.
