Maha Ganapati Temple

It’s interesting to note that this is one of the rare temples where the Ganesha idol is displayed standing, and not in his seated form. This temple was created in Ganesha’s honour since it was a little Ganesha who fooled Ravana by stealing the atmalingam from him. People come to this peaceful location to seek Lord Ganesha’s blessings and to be in awe of the magnificent building. This temple is a wonderful place to visit for history fans to see the elegance of Dravidian architecture.

Half- moon beach

One of the beautiful beaches in the Karnataka town of Gokarna is Half Moon Beach. From the top of the surrounding hillocks, the beach appears to resemble a half moon. A cliff divides the little Half Moon Beach from the Om Beach. Visit it if you have the time; it’s a nice change from the regular beaches.

Mahabaleshwar temple

A Shiva Linga,also known as The Atmalinga, stands 6 feet tall, and is worshiped in this temple. It is a famous representation of the elegance of Dravidian architecture and was built using white granite.
The atmalingam, which is one of the most destructive lingams, is located in a temple that is dedicated to Shiva. Visitors visit this temple to seek the blessings of the atmalingam. Mahabaleshwara Temple celebrates Shivratri with full devotion because it is a Shiva-related festival.

Yana Caves

The Yana cave complex, which is located just above the Sahyadri mountain range, is made up of two enormous, black, anthill-shaped hills known as Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and Mohini Shikhara. Yana cave is the ideal retreat location for trekkers, hikers, and adventure lovers because it is well-known for exploration, nature, and religion.

How to reach Gokarna

By Train
Road and rail transportation to Gokarna is simple. Although Gokarna has a railway station with the name Gokarna Road, not all trains stop there. If you are unable to board from Gokarna, you can try for other stations like- Ankola, Kumta, or Madgaon. You will need to board a bus or a taxi after reaching the station to get to your desired location.

By Air
Dabolim Airport in Goa is the closest airport and has good local and international connections if you want to travel by air to get to Gokarna. The 235 kilometres from the city Mangalore International Airport is another option. You can take a taxi from the airport after you reach Gokarna.

By Road

You can travel on a bus from Goa, Bangalore, Mangalore, Pune, Delhi, and other cities to reach Gokarna. There are various buses available to transport you to Gokarna if you decide to travel by road. Buses from Bangalore, Mangalore, Panjim, Hubli, etc. are operated by KSRTC. Buses from Bangalore to Gokarna are also operated by some private companies. Take NH-17 if you want to travel down by car. Bangalore is 583 kilometers away from Gokarna.

You can choose any traveling way to reach Gokarna, but make sure to keep your camera handy, because there are a lot of things to capture.
