The fourth episode begins with Agatha and the witches confronting Sharon’s lifeless body. Tensions rise as Alice reveals she’s been told that the Road will save her, a cryptic message passed down by her mother. Agatha, determined to move forward, doesn’t care about the lives lost along the way, declaring survival of the fittest. Yet, the others insist on summoning a Green Witch to aid them.
Enter Rio Vidal, a sinister figure known as Lady Death. Her arrival shakes the group, particularly as some witches eye her with both admiration and fear. Their journey leads them to a mysterious house, the site of the witches’ second trial. Alice’s fear of the house hints at deeper connections to her past, and as they step inside, they’re each transformed into new outfits. Rio, however, seems intent on stirring chaos, speaking to Agatha in secret and revealing their troubled history.

As the witches work through the house’s puzzles, they uncover a record that triggers a curse, manifesting in burns across their shoulders. The curse stems from Alice’s lineage, and the only way to break it is through a ballad tied to her mother. The witches perform the song, unlocking a new path, but chaos continues as Billy collapses from a mysterious wound. Agatha stays by his side as he grapples with the cursed sigil, while Rio and Agatha’s dark past comes to light, fueling distrust within the group.
Episode 4 deepens the series’ supernatural intrigue, with the introduction of Rio adding a captivating twist. Aubrey Plaza shines as the enigmatic Lady Death, her chaotic energy blending well with Agatha’s more calculated approach. The chemistry between the two is electric, especially as their shared past unravels. The witches’ dynamic is evolving, and the tension between Agatha and Rio keeps us on edge.

However, while intriguing, the episode’s pacing drags at times, and the generational curse plot feels underdeveloped. The haunted house setting and eerie atmosphere work well, but the constant teasing of deeper mysteries without payoff leaves things unresolved. Still, Rio’s addition breathes new life into the series, setting up thrilling possibilities for future episodes.
