In Episode 3 we follow Agatha and her crew of witches as they march down a mystical road, trying to evade the coven chasing them. Agatha warns that the road will test their abilities, with each witch facing a unique trial. Early on, Billy, Wanda’s son, struggles with a mysterious spell hiding his name and origin. Agatha leads them, but the tension grows when Sharon falls into quicksand. Her rescue takes some effort, with her voice grating on everyone as she struggles to breathe, but eventually, she is saved.

The witches continue onward, drawn to an eerie house illuminated by a strange orange glow. Once inside, their clothing magically transforms, and they discover a card that holds a riddle marking the start of their first trial. Amidst the cryptic message, they find a bottle of wine—an obvious nod to the show’s tongue-in-cheek humor.

The group indulges, but soon their faces swell grotesquely as a result of a poison called “Alewife’s Revenge.” To survive, they must concoct an antidote. However, while gathering ingredients, each witch is haunted by personal demons, from unresolved family issues to past traumas. Despite the tension, they eventually succeed, brewing the antidote just in time to save themselves. But the episode ends on a somber note as Sharon collapses again, seemingly lifeless.

The third episode of Agatha All Along starts to reveal the cracks in its storytelling. The episode leans heavily on tired tropes, with predictable trials and exaggerated emotional beats that don’t hit as hard as they should. While the witches’ challenges could have offered meaningful growth or introspection, they feel like rushed obstacles, hastily thrown in to pad out the runtime.

The show attempts to balance humor with mystical drama but often falls flat. The humor feels forced, with jokes about wine and superficial “girl talk” failing to engage. It’s a shame because Agatha is such a dynamic character, but the narrative doesn’t give her much room to shine. Despite flashes of potential, ‘Agatha All Along’ still feels like it’s wandering without direction.
