New Late Night Show “After Midnight” Announces Taylor Tomlinson as Host

In a recent announcement, CBS has revealed that stand-up comedian Taylor Tomlinson will take the reins as the host of their upcoming late-night show, “After Midnight.” The show, executive produced by Stephen Colbert, was unveiled during the latest episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Tomlinson joined Colbert on stage to discuss the exciting news.
Taylor Tomlinson, known for her recent Netflix comedy specials, “Look At You” and “Quarter Life Crisis,” has been selected as the face of the new late-night franchise. The program is set to debut in early 2024, occupying the time slot formerly held by “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” “After Midnight” draws inspiration from the popular series “@midnight,” which ran from October 2013 to August 2017, following “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.” It featured a panel format with guest comedians interacting with host Chris Hardwick.
Earlier this year, Tomlinson inked a deal with Netflix for two upcoming stand-up specials scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform. Her most recent special, filmed in Washington, D.C., is also set to air in 2024.
Taylor Tomlinson’s star began to rise in 2020, coinciding with the release of “Quarter-Life Crisis” on Netflix, just before the onset of the pandemic. Alongside her work on “After Midnight,” Tomlinson is actively engaged in a film project with Village Roadshow Pictures based on her own upbringing. She is co-writing the script with Taylor Tetreau and is set to star in the film, with director Paul Weitz at the helm.
Jack Martin, the showrunner for all four seasons of “@midnight,” will serve as co-showrunner for “After Midnight,” alongside Eric Pierce. Comedian and writer Jo Firestone will take on the role of co-executive producer and head writer, while Alexx Wells will also serve as a co-executive producer.
The executive production team of “After Midnight” includes Stephen Colbert, Carrie Byalick (president of Spartina Industries), Tom Purcell (an executive producer at “The Late Show”), Evelyn McGee Colbert, and James Dixon of Dixon Talent. The Spartina team is joined by executive producers Joe Farrell, Mike Farah, Whitney Hodack, and Henry R. Muñoz III from Funny Or Die. Jason U. Nadler of Serious Business, a co-creator of “@midnight,” is also on board as an executive producer.
