Kapil Sharma and Hina Khan Summoned by Enforcement Directorate in Mahadev Money-Laundering Probe

In the ongoing investigation into the Mahadev money-laundering case, popular Indian comedian Kapil Sharma and renowned actor Hina Khan have been requested to testify before the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Their summonses came shortly after actor Ranbir Kapoor was called in for questioning by the ED. Both Sharma and Khan are scheduled to appear before the ED on Friday, as per the issued summonses.

Breaking the news, the respected news agency ANI took to Twitter, announcing, “ED has summoned comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Hina Khan in connection with the Mahadev betting app case, according to ED sources.” Actor Hina Khan was also contacted by the ED for the same purpose, according to a report by News18.

Ranbir Kapoor, who was summoned earlier, was approached by the ED to shed light on the origin of funds used in the promotion of the betting app. The ED requested the actor’s presence at their Raipur, Chhattisgarh, office on October 6. It’s important to note that Kapoor has not been named as an accused at this stage, but the authorities are keen on investigating his understanding of the fund sources. An ED source revealed, “Ranbir Kapoor has been asked to attend so that he may comprehend the betting industry transactions. It’s critical to probe him regarding his awareness of the origins of the funds he received. This might unveil the promoters’ and their association’s plans,” as cited in a report by News18.

According to sources within the Enforcement Directorate, the probe into the Mahadev money-laundering case is anticipated to involve as many as 17 Bollywood celebrities. These stars are being linked to their participation in or entertainment services provided at the wedding of the company’s CEO, Sourabh Chandrakar, in February of the current year and the company’s success celebration held in September 2022. Among the celebrities under scrutiny are Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, and several others.
