Krrish 4 Stalls Again: Budget Battle Between Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Chopra Delays Superhero Sequel

Hrithik’s ambitious vision clashes with studio caution as India’s biggest superhero film remains stuck in pre-production

Hrithik Roshan’s much-awaited Krrish 4 has hit another major roadblock, with the project reportedly delayed due to a serious budget disagreement between the actor and producer Aditya Chopra. The superhero sequel, which has been in development for years, was expected to finally move into production, but fresh reports suggest that creative ambition and financial caution are now at odds, pushing the film further into uncertainty.

According to industry sources, Hrithik Roshan—who is also set to make his directorial debut with Krrish 4—is aiming for a massive, visually ambitious film that can match global superhero standards. This vision reportedly requires a budget close to ₹500 crore, largely driven by high-end VFX, large-scale action sequences, and an expansive cinematic universe approach. However, Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films are said to be uncomfortable with such a high investment, preferring a more controlled budget in the range of ₹350 crore to reduce financial risk.

Because of this difference in approach, Krrish 4 has been placed on hold, with no confirmed shooting schedule in sight. Plans to begin filming soon have been shelved, and the film’s release timeline is now expected to move beyond 2026. Sources also indicate that Hrithik is exploring alternative production options and may consider partnering with another studio if his creative and financial expectations are met.

This delay adds to the film’s already long and troubled journey. The franchise’s last installment, Krrish 3, released back in 2013, and since then the sequel has faced multiple hurdles, including script reworks, changes in production partners, and the decision by Rakesh Roshan to step away from directing duties. The exit of producer Siddharth Anand earlier also slowed progress significantly.

Despite the uncertainty, Krrish 4 remains one of the most anticipated projects in Hindi cinema, with fans eagerly waiting to see Hrithik return as India’s iconic superhero. Whether the film moves forward with Yash Raj Films or finds a new home will likely depend on how this budget standoff is resolved in the coming months.
