Mouni Roy has opened up about a deeply upsetting incident she faced during a recent public appearance in Karnal, Haryana, turning what was meant to be a celebratory event into a distressing experience. The actress shared a detailed account on her Instagram Stories, expressing shock, anger and disappointment over the behaviour of certain members of the audience.

According to Mouni, the discomfort began even before she reached the stage. As she walked towards the platform, a few male attendees — including elderly men — allegedly placed their hands on her waist under the excuse of taking photographs. She said she immediately objected and asked them to remove their hands, but instead of respecting her boundaries, the situation became more hostile.

Once on stage, the incident reportedly escalated. Two men standing in the front row allegedly made lewd comments, obscene hand gestures and resorted to name-calling. Mouni initially tried to handle the matter calmly by signalling them to stop, but they reportedly responded by throwing roses towards her on stage, further disrupting the event. At one point, she briefly moved toward the exit but chose to return and complete her appearance.

The actress also revealed that some people in the crowd were recording her from inappropriate angles, and when other guests attempted to intervene, the men allegedly abused them as well. Mouni expressed disappointment over the absence of timely action from event organisers and security personnel, stating that no one effectively stepped in to control the situation.

Describing the experience as humiliating and traumatising, Mouni questioned how anyone could justify such behaviour and urged organisers and authorities to ensure better safety measures for artists performing at public events. She emphasised that entertainers attend such functions to work and entertain, not to tolerate harassment or disrespect.

The incident triggered strong reactions across social media, with many fans and industry voices supporting Mouni for speaking up and demanding stricter safety protocols at public gatherings.
