Vijay Sethupathi Joins Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 as Goa Schedule Rolls Ahead

The Nelson-directed sequel expands its star power as Sethupathi comes on board; Sun Pictures targets a massive Summer 2026 pan-India release.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2 is rapidly building momentum, with acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi now joining the cast. According to industry reports, Sethupathi reached Goa today to begin shooting for a compact but crucial role in the highly anticipated sequel. While the makers have not yet issued an official announcement, the news has generated considerable buzz, given the actor’s growing national appeal and his ability to elevate intense, character-driven moments on screen.

The team has been shooting extensive portions in Goa as part of a major schedule that includes action sequences and key dramatic beats. Production is on track to wrap principal photography by December, keeping the film aligned for its planned Summer 2026 theatrical release.

Jailer 2 will see Rajinikanth return as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian, the iconic character who became a fan favourite in the first film. The sequel also features Ramya Krishnan, SJ Suryah, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa in prominent roles, adding to the film’s strong ensemble. Anirudh Ravichander once again handles the music, with expectations high after his chart-topping soundtrack in the original Jailer.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is being positioned as a big-scale, pan-India entertainer. With additions like Vijay Sethupathi, the sequel is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Indian releases of 2026.
