Tom Holland Recovers After Concussion, Film Shoot on Brief Hold

Actor shares he’s “on the mend” after sustaining a mild concussion on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day set; production paused for a week, but release plans remain unchanged

While production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day was temporarily suspended following a stunt mishap, Tom Holland has updated fans that he’s feeling better and working toward recovery.

Holland had to step away from filming after reportedly suffering a mild concussion while shooting a stunt on September 19 at the Glasgow-area set. He was treated at a nearby hospital and released shortly thereafter. No other cast or crew members were reported injured in the incident.

Although filming was halted as a precaution, the delay is expected to be minimal and not affect the movie’s planned premiere. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Holland praised his family’s nonprofit, The Brothers Trust, for pulling off a successful gala event the previous weekend (which he attended briefly alongside fiancée Zendaya), and apologized for having to leave early. “I’m sorry I had to leave early but I’m feeling better and on the mend,” he wrote. He also thanked his father for stepping in during his absence as host.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day resumed filming on September 29 following the week-long pause. The film is slated for release on July 31, 2026.
