Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Urges Self-Worth to Be Measured Within, Not by Social Media Sub-Headline

In a powerful new L’Oréal Paris “Lessons of Worth” video, the actor conveys as a mother that the pressure of likes and online validation on young minds is “a matter of grave concern.”

Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has once again used her platform to speak up for self-respect — this time by challenging society’s fixation on social media validation. In a recently released video for L’Oréal Paris’s “Lessons of Worth” campaign, the actor delivers a heartfelt message: self-worth should be rooted within, not in likes, comments, or digital applause.

Wearing the brand’s tagline—“Because you’re worth it”—on her sleeve, she asks a riveting question: What truly defines our value? Is it the snapshot we post, the number of hearts it gets, or the chatter in the comment section? She warns that we’ve unintentionally handed over the power of our self-identity to these fleeting digital markers.

Calling it a pressing issue as both a woman and mother, Aishwarya expresses deep concern over the impact of social media pressure on both young people and impressionable adults. “There’s not much difference between social media and social pressure,” she says, stressing that relying on external metrics to gauge our worth is unsustainable.

She urges a course correction: stop outsourcing your value to anyone or anything else. Instead, she says, the only ‘like’ that counts is the one you give yourself. “Worth is innate,” she emphasizes. “Look in the mirror and say, ‘I’m worth it.’ And, most importantly, believe it.”

The campaign has struck a chord with fans. Many hailed her voice of reason, calling it “perfect,” “powerful,” and applauding her calm yet commanding presence. Rallying behind her message, they cheerfully crowned her a “queen” of authenticity.
