Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par to Stream Exclusively on YouTube Worldwide from August 1
After a ₹267 Cr Box Office Run, Aamir Khan Pioneers a New Film Distribution Model with YouTube Release in 38 Countries at Affordable Rates

In a groundbreaking move set to shake up the global film distribution landscape, Aamir Khan has announced that his acclaimed film Sitaare Zameen Par will be released digitally exclusively on YouTube Movies-on-Demand starting August 1, 2025. The film, which has already amassed ₹267 crore at the global box office, will bypass traditional streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar, opting instead for the world’s most accessible video platform—YouTube.
This decision marks a revolutionary shift in how Indian cinema could be delivered to global audiences. Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to Khan’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, features Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, supported by an inspiring cast that includes 10 actors with intellectual disabilities. The movie blends sports, emotions, and inclusivity, creating a heartfelt narrative that resonated widely during its theatrical run.
Audiences in India will be able to rent the film for ₹100, while pricing for 38 international markets—such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, and more—has been localized. The film will include multi-language dubbing and subtitles to maximize accessibility across regions.
Speaking about this bold experiment, Aamir Khan shared his long-standing vision:
“For the past 15 years, I’ve been struggling with how to reach audiences who don’t have access to theatres. Now, with UPI, deep internet penetration, and YouTube’s universal reach, we can finally bridge this gap.”
He continued,
“I’ve always dreamt of making cinema available at an affordable price to everyone—anytime, anywhere. If this works, it’ll open the doors for new creative voices to tell bold stories without being limited by traditional release systems.”
The YouTube premiere is being positioned as a direct-to-home experience—transforming personal devices into “Janta ka Theatre.” With a model that’s cost-effective, accessible, and built for scale, this could potentially signal a shift in how Indian films are monetized post-theatrical release.
