Adria Arjona Replaces Taylor Russell in Michael B. Jordan’s Bold Reboot of The Thomas Crown Affair

Amazon MGM’s stylish heist thriller—starring and directed by Jordan—welcomes Arjona to a star-studded cast, with a fresh twist on the 1968 classic now filming in London.

Adria Arjona has officially joined the cast of The Thomas Crown Affair, stepping into the lead female role opposite Michael B. Jordan in Amazon MGM Studios’ ambitious reimagining of the iconic heist film. Currently filming in London, the stylish thriller is set for theatrical release on March 5, 2027.

Michael B. Jordan not only stars but also directs this modern take on the 1968 original, which famously starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Jordan first teased his vision for the remake at CinemaCon 2024, promising that this project “isn’t just another remake.”

Arjona takes over from Bones and All actress Taylor Russell, who departed the project due to creative differences, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Arjona, best known for her work in Andor, Hit Man, and Blink Twice, will also be seen next alongside Dakota Johnson in the upcoming comedy Splitsville.

Joining Jordan and Arjona is a powerhouse ensemble cast including Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. The screenplay is penned by Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy), building upon earlier drafts from Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson.

Behind the scenes, Jordan produces through his Outlier Society alongside Elizabeth Raposo. Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment also serves as a producer, joined by Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff of Toberoff Productions. Alan Trustman, who wrote the screenplay for the 1968 original, is on board as an executive producer, adding a legacy link to the project.

The story centers on a wealthy mastermind who orchestrates a high-stakes heist while an insurance investigator attempts to unravel the mystery—an enduring cat-and-mouse tale that has captivated audiences for decades. The original film earned two Oscar nominations and was previously remade in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.

This updated Thomas Crown Affair marks a reunion between Jordan and Amazon MGM, following his successful directorial debut with Creed III in 2023. With Arjona now onboard, the film promises a fresh dynamic and a modern edge to a classic tale of elegance, theft, and deception.
