Mohit Suri Applauds Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Support, Regrets Not Publicly Praising Animal

As Saiyaara storms the box office, Mohit Suri opens up about Vanga’s rare gesture of public praise and his own silence over Animal, blaming a social media detox.

Riding high on the roaring success of Saiyaara, director Mohit Suri has found himself not only basking in the film’s glory but also reflecting on the importance of public recognition within the film industry. Starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, Saiyaara is fast becoming Suri’s biggest hit to date, winning over both audiences and critics.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Suri opened up about an unexpected yet heartening gesture from Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. After watching Saiyaara, Vanga personally messaged Suri with compliments and even took the rare step of publicly sharing the film’s trailer on his social media platforms.

This act of public appreciation left a deep impression on Suri, who confessed he wished he had done the same when he watched Animal. “When Animal was released, half the world seemed to be against him,” Suri admitted. “But I genuinely loved the film. I messaged him at the time saying I could see the director’s vision in every frame.”

Suri explained that he wasn’t personally acquainted with Vanga before Animal, but the film turned him into a fan. “I wasn’t active on social media then, which is why I didn’t post anything publicly. But I wish I had,” he said.

The Aashiqui 2 director also touched on the lack of public appreciation within the film fraternity, praising Vanga as “secure and generous” for doing both—messaging him privately and supporting Saiyaara publicly. “That kind of confidence is rare. My wife even told me, ‘It takes a secure person to do that,’ and I agree completely,” Suri said.

Suri also acknowledged a similar sentiment expressed by Vanga in past interviews—that while Animal received quiet appreciation from many in the industry, few openly praised it. Mohit, in retrospect, empathized with this experience and expressed regret over not adding his voice to Vanga’s support system.

“I had deleted all my social media during the making of Saiyaara. I wanted to focus entirely on the film, especially since it featured debut actors. I even had to ask my assistant for my passwords later,” Suri shared.

With Saiyaara continuing its box office dream run, the moment between the two directors has not only spotlighted a rare show of camaraderie in Bollywood but also sparked a larger conversation about public praise, social media presence, and mutual respect in the industry.
