Salman Khan Gears Up for ‘Battle of Galwan’: His Most Physically Demanding Film Yet

The action star opens up about grueling Ladakh shoots, freezing water scenes, and portraying the 2020 Galwan conflict in an intense war drama slated for a January release.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is all set to headline one of his most intense and physically demanding projects to date — Battle of Galwan, a war drama based on the real-life 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley.

In a recent interview with PTI, Salman shared insights into the demanding nature of the film, calling it far more challenging than his past projects. “It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I have to dedicate more time now. Earlier, I would wrap up in a week or two, but this one requires me to run, kick, punch — all of that. The film demands it,” he said.

The actor emphasized that Battle of Galwan is unlike any previous action film he has done. “In Sikandar, the action and character were very different. Here, it’s physically exhausting. We’re shooting in Ladakh, dealing with high altitudes and freezing cold water,” he revealed.

According to Salman, the team is scheduled to begin shooting in Ladakh later this month. “When I first signed the film, I thought it was incredible — but also extremely difficult. I’ve got 20 days of shooting in Ladakh, and another 7 to 8 days in cold water scenes,” he added.

The film is based on the violent yet firearm-free 2020 confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley — one of the most intense military face-offs in recent decades. The skirmish, fought at an altitude of over 15,000 feet, resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers, marking a tragic and historic moment in India-China relations.

Unlike most of Khan’s recent releases that traditionally hit theatres during Eid, Battle of Galwan is scheduled for a January 2026 release.
