Akshay Kumar & Saif Ali Khan Reunite for Priyadarshan’s New Film Haiwaan
Just as Paresh Rawal rejoins Hera Pheri 3, Priyadarshan surprises fans with another Akshay-starrer featuring Saif Ali Khan
After weeks of speculation and uncertainty, veteran actor Paresh Rawal finally confirmed his return to the eagerly anticipated Hera Pheri 3, alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. But in a surprising twist, director Priyadarshan has now announced a completely new project—Haiwaan—bringing back the iconic duo of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.
The filmmaker made the announcement on Instagram, posting a photo of Saif and Akshay together at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, during an India vs England match. His caption read: “Haiwaan – my next film with @akshaykumar and Saif Ali Khan at Lords.”
This sudden reveal has left fans both thrilled and confused. With Hera Pheri 3 already suffering from multiple delays, the announcement of Haiwaan has added to the uncertainty surrounding the beloved comedy franchise. One fan commented on the post, “Please make Hera Pheri 3 first, and you can do anything afterwards,” while another pleaded, “Please bring back Hera Pheri.”
Although Priyadarshan hasn’t divulged the plot of Haiwaan, there have been longstanding rumours that he’s been considering a Hindi remake of his 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which starred Mohanlal in a gripping role.
The announcement of Haiwaan also marks a nostalgic reunion of two ‘90s heartthrobs—Akshay and Saif—who delivered hits like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Yeh Dillagi, and Aarzoo. They were last seen sharing screen space in the 2008 action-comedy Tashan.
Whether Haiwaan will precede Hera Pheri 3 in production remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Priyadarshan’s double announcement has ignited massive buzz and speculation about what’s coming next in Bollywood’s comedy and thriller spaces.
