Plot
When billionaire Pankaj Bhatti (Boman Irani) is found murdered under suspicious circumstances, the Bhatti family is thrown into chaos — especially after it’s revealed he’s left his entire fortune to his workers and animals. Enter Sherdil (Diljit Dosanjh), a flashy detective with a flair for theatrics and deduction, who begins questioning the icy wife Rajeshwari (Ratna Pathak Shah), the bitter son Angad (Sumeet Vyas), and the mysterious, mute daughter Shanti (Banita Sandhu). But while the film sets up an intriguing premise, it quickly becomes clear that this is more a “howdunit” than a genuine “whodunit.”
Performance & Direction
Diljit Dosanjh adds his signature charm and comic timing, but his over-the-top antics and constant smirking dilute the seriousness of the murder mystery. Ratna Pathak Shah channels her inner Maya Sarabhai — perhaps a bit too closely — while Sumeet Vyas plays the sneering son with exaggerated menace. Banita Sandhu brings some emotional depth, but the direction doesn’t allow her to shine. Ravi Chhabriya keeps the pacing tight, but the tone veers awkwardly between satire and sincerity, failing to land either.
