Diljit Dosanjh Faces Backlash Over ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ Casting Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
Casting of Pakistani Actress Hania Aamir Triggers Outrage; Diljit Shares Cryptic Post Hinting at Censorship Issues

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has found himself at the center of a controversy following the release of the trailer for his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. The film, directed by Amar Hundal, features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, whose involvement has sparked significant backlash due to heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
As per the current political climate, Pakistani artists remain banned from working in Indian films—a rule reinstated with stricter sentiment following the attack. Despite the filmmakers’ decision to skip the movie’s theatrical release in India, public outrage has been mounting, with social media users and organizations like the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) criticizing Diljit for collaborating with a Pakistani artist. FWICE has even called for a ban on all of Diljit’s ongoing and future projects.

In the middle of the storm, Diljit shared a cryptic message on Instagram, reading: “Censored before Release.” Many are interpreting this as a veiled response not just to the current Sardaar Ji 3 backlash but also to his other project Punjab 95. The biopic, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, was scheduled for release in February but faced delays due to censorship hurdles.
With Sardaar Ji 3 generating both buzz and backlash, Diljit Dosanjh remains in the spotlight—not only for his cinematic ventures but also for navigating the crossfire of political sensitivities and artistic choices.
