The star-studded cast begins the third schedule of the much-anticipated war film, with the first official group photo setting social media abuzz.

The battalion is officially in formation! The cast and crew of Border 2 have assembled in Pune to kick off the third shooting schedule of the war epic, and fans finally got their first look at the team together. A powerful group photo featuring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and Varun Dhawan has gone viral, drawing mixed reactions but undeniable excitement from audiences online.

Sunny Deol, who reprises his role from the iconic 1997 war film Border, shared the group photo on Instagram with the caption, “When all ‘Forces’ Come together! #BORDER2… Diljit Dosanjh & Ahan Shetty join Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan as the battalion kicks off the 3rd schedule at Pune’s National Defence Academy.”

This marks the first time the entire core cast posed together, with the photo showing the actors seated up front while the producers and director stand behind. Notably, Varun Dhawan is seen sporting a fresh new look—complete with a moustache—hinting at his military role in the film. Meanwhile, Ahan Shetty’s sister Athiya Shetty took to Instagram to cheer him on, posting the photo with the message, “Can’t wait for this one.” Fans echoed the sentiment, flooding the comments with anticipation.

Border 2 is the sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster Border, and this time, it’s directed by Anurag Singh, known for helming the acclaimed war drama Kesari (2019). The film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series and JP Films.

The film is slated for a Republic Day weekend release—January 23, 2026—setting up high expectations for another patriotic blockbuster.
