Vivek Oberoi Joins Ranbir-Yash’s Mega Epic Ramayana

As Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological blockbuster gears up for a grand Diwali 2026 release, Vivek Oberoi enters as Vidyutjihva, while rumors around Anil Kapoor and Vikrant Massey are put to rest.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana continues to grow bigger, bolder, and more ambitious. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer is one of the most highly anticipated Indian cinematic spectacles, boasting a mammoth budget and a galaxy of top-tier talent from across the country. Now, actor Vivek Oberoi has officially joined the cast in a significant role, adding even more gravitas to the ensemble.

Vivek Oberoi, widely recognized for his intense performances in Company, Omkara, and Krrish 3, will portray Vidyutjihva—a powerful demon prince from the Daitya clan. According to reports, Vidyutjihva is also the husband of Surpanakha, played by Rakul Preet Singh. His character is set to face off against the mighty Ravana, played by KGF star Yash, in a fierce internal clash within the demon kingdom.

Meanwhile, recent speculations about Anil Kapoor and Vikrant Massey joining the cast as King Janaka and Prince Meghnad have been debunked. Sources close to the project have dismissed these casting rumors as baseless.

Currently in production, Ramayana is being shot on an extravagant scale and will be released in two parts. Ramayana: Part One is slated for a grand Diwali 2026 release, with Part Two arriving the following year on Diwali 2027. Both films are being filmed simultaneously to maintain narrative and visual continuity.

The mythological saga features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The star-studded lineup also includes Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, Lara Dutta, Amitabh Bachchan, Kunal Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, and others.

Backed by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the film carries a staggering budget of ₹835 crore—allocated solely for the first installment—making it the most expensive Indian film to date. In an ambitious move to take the story global, the makers are reportedly in discussions with Warner Bros. Pictures for international distribution.

With mega stars, and a mind-blowing budget, Ramayana is shaping up to be India’s most daring cinematic journey yet.
