Director Raj Kumar Gupta casts Deshmukh as formidable villain Dada Bhai, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown with Ajay Devgn’s Amay Patnaik in the May 1, 2025 release.

In the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2018 crime thriller Raid, director Raj Kumar Gupta introduces a compelling new adversary for IRS officer Amay Patnaik, portrayed by Ajay Devgn. Riteish Deshmukh steps into the role of Dada Bhai, a powerful and manipulative politician who challenges the very fabric of law enforcement.
Gupta, who previously collaborated with Deshmukh on the web series Pill, expressed his admiration for the actor’s versatility. “I’ve always appreciated Riteish’s work, from his comedic roles to his performances in Marathi cinema and as a villain. After working with him on Pill, I was convinced we’d collaborate again,” Gupta shared.

Deshmukh’s portrayal of Dada Bhai marks a significant departure from his typical roles, showcasing his range as he embodies a character who “doesn’t answer to the law, he controls it,” as highlighted in the film’s promotional materials. The first-look poster reveals Deshmukh’s intense transformation, hinting at a gripping performance that promises to captivate audiences.
Raid 2 also features Vaani Kapoor and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Abhishek Pathak under the banners of T-Series and Panorama Studios. Set against the backdrop of a high-profile income tax investigation, the narrative delves into themes of power, corruption, and justice.
Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2025, Raid 2 aims to deliver a compelling blend of action and drama, building upon the success of its predecessor and offering a fresh, intense cinematic experience.
