Pregnant and Powerful: Deepika Padukone Wrapped Singham Again Action Scenes While Four Months Along
Rohit Shetty reveals how Deepika Padukone shot intense action sequences while expecting, praising her unwavering commitment and emotional bond with the team.

Deepika Padukone stunned fans with her high-octane avatar as Shakti Shetty in Singham Again, but what truly stands out is her sheer grit off-screen. While audiences cheered her bold entry as the first female cop in Rohit Shetty’s action-packed universe, what many didn’t know was that Deepika was four months pregnant while filming the final schedule of the movie.
Director Rohit Shetty, in a heartfelt conversation with Game Changers, opened up about how deeply moved he was by her dedication. “There are just a few people I can call at 2 am—Ajay sir, Ranveer, and Deepika,” he shared. “When the last leg of Singham Again was pending, Deepika was four months pregnant. Yet she showed up for the shoot. Relations like these are rare.”
Deepika’s character, Shakti Shetty—popularly dubbed “Lady Singham”—is a force to be reckoned with in the film. She brings an intense, commanding presence to the screen, holding her own alongside Ajay Devgn’s iconic Bajirao Singham. Her introduction is nothing short of explosive, setting a new standard for female-led action in Bollywood.
Behind the screen, the actress was also navigating a life-changing personal chapter. On September 8, 2024, Deepika and Ranveer Singh welcomed their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh. The name “Dua,” meaning “prayer,” was chosen to reflect their profound gratitude. While the couple has decided to keep Dua’s face away from the public eye for now, they’ve spoken candidly about the emotional rollercoaster of new parenthood.
At the Forbes 30/50 Global Summit in Abu Dhabi, Deepika admitted that motherhood has completely shifted her perspective. Her top priority, she said, is her daughter’s well-being. “She’s always on my mind,” Deepika confessed, even revealing that her most recent Google search was, “When will my baby stop spitting up?”
Balancing stunts on set and midnight parenting Googles isn’t easy, and Deepika also acknowledged the emotional toll. “There’s definitely mom guilt,” she said, reflecting on her return to work after Dua’s birth. But if anything, her work on Singham Again proves that motherhood and strength go hand in hand.
