Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Sequel Set for 2025 Shoot Amid Prabhas’s Packed Schedule
As Prabhas juggles multiple projects, director Nag Ashwin advances with a new Alia Bhatt-led film, while the ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ sequel eyes a 2026 release.

Following the monumental success of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, director Nag Ashwin is gearing up for its much-anticipated sequel. However, the production schedule has been adjusted due to lead actor Prabhas’s commitments to other major projects, including ‘The Raja Saab’, ‘Fauji’, and ‘Spirit’ . As a result, filming for the sequel is now slated to commence in mid-2025, with a potential release in late 2026 .

In the interim, Ashwin is channeling his creative energies into a new venture—a pan-Indian, women-centric film starring Alia Bhatt. Currently in pre-production, this project is expected to begin shooting later this year, with an official announcement forthcoming. The film will be produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the same banner behind ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.
The upcoming ‘Kalki’ sequel promises to delve deeper into the narrative, focusing on Kamal Haasan’s character, Supreme Yaskin, and expanding the roles of other key characters. With parts of the sequel already filmed during the first installment’s production, anticipation is high for this continuation of the epic saga .
