Harvey Specter is Back! Gabriel Macht Returns in ‘Suits LA’ Spin-Off

Gabriel Macht is set to reprise his role as Harvey Specter in the upcoming series Suits LA, a spin-off of the original Suits series. The new show, created by Aaron Korsh, introduces Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who establishes a Los Angeles law firm specializing in criminal and entertainment law. Korsh, aiming to maintain a connection to the original series, saw an opportunity to bring back familiar faces, noting the shared background of Ted and Harvey as New York prosecutors.

The idea to include Harvey Specter emerged during the filming of a Suits-inspired Super Bowl ad for T-Mobile in 2024, where Korsh reconnected with Macht. Without prior discussion, Korsh included a picture of Harvey in the pilot episode, intending to remove it if Macht declined the role. Upon receiving the series pickup, Korsh invited Macht to return, and he graciously accepted.

Macht believes that fans of the original series will appreciate the blend of familiar elements and new dynamics in Suits LA. He suggests that his return could pave the way for other original cast members to make appearances, offering “little Easter eggs” for longtime viewers. Korsh emphasizes the importance of integrating returning characters organically, avoiding a mere parade of old faces, and expressing openness to future appearances as the series progresses.

Stephen Amell, taking on the lead role, appreciates the connection to the original series, noting that fans will be eager to see what Harvey Specter has been up to since they last saw him. Korsh recalls that Amell’s audition immediately convinced him that he was the right choice to lead this new chapter in the Suits universe.

Looking ahead, Korsh remains open to expanding the Suits universe further, including the possibility of a movie. However, he emphasizes the need for genuine inspiration, stating that he doesn’t want to pursue projects solely because they are feasible. Suits LA is scheduled to premiere on NBC on February 23, 2025.
