Vin Diesel Breaks Silence After Awkward Golden Globes Moment with Dwayne Johnson

The Fast & Furious star addresses speculation about reignited tensions with The Rock after a cryptic onstage exchange.

Vin Diesel has set the record straight following an unexpected moment at the Golden Globe Awards that sparked online chatter about his long-standing feud with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. While presenting the award for cinematic and box office achievement on Sunday night, Diesel paused mid-speech to address Johnson, seated near the front of the Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom.

“Hi Dwayne,” Diesel remarked, locking eyes with his former Fast & Furious co-star. Johnson responded with a slightly awkward grin, a moment that quickly set social media ablaze with speculation about whether the pair’s infamous feud had flared up again.

In response to the buzz, Diesel took to Instagram days later, sharing a throwback photo of himself and Johnson from the 2015 Fast 5 premiere in Rio de Janeiro. The caption read simply, “All love… Always…” — seemingly an attempt to quash the rumors.

But fans remember that the journey between these two action stars hasn’t always been paved with “all love.” Their much-publicized clash began in 2011 when Johnson joined the franchise as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five, bringing fresh energy to the multibillion-dollar series that Diesel had spearheaded since 2001. By 2016, behind-the-scenes tension boiled over into a public dispute, with Johnson famously posting (and later deleting) an Instagram rant that praised the women of the franchise but called some male co-stars “candy asses.”

Though Johnson didn’t name names, he later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the comment was directed at Diesel. “We have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating,” Johnson explained, shedding light on their creative friction.

The feud turned into a saga of its own, with the two stars trading jabs in interviews and fueling headlines for years. Still, the drama didn’t seem to hurt the franchise — if anything, it added to its mystique. The Fast & Furious films remain Universal’s highest-grossing series, earning over $7 billion globally and ranking as the eighth-highest-grossing film franchise of all time.

While Johnson stepped away from the mainline films to lead the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw alongside Jason Statham, Diesel continued to steer the core franchise, focusing on his iconic character Dominic Toretto and the theme of family that has become synonymous with the series.
