Pete Davidson Finds Solace Beyond the Spotlight
The comedian reflects on stepping back from Hollywood, overcoming media scrutiny, and embracing personal growth.

Pete Davidson is finally at peace after retreating from the pressures of fame.
The 31-year-old comedian, best known for his eight-season run on Saturday Night Live, made headlines in 2022 when he exited the iconic sketch show. Today, Davidson has shifted gears, taking on the role of creative director for the sock brand Doublesoul, while intentionally distancing himself from Hollywood’s relentless glare.
In a candid interview with W, Davidson shared that his decision to step away was fueled by the intense scrutiny surrounding his high-profile relationships with stars like Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian.
“Luckily, I got hit on the face with the Hollywood shovel,” he admitted. “It was a long time coming, and I needed it. I’m very happy where I am right now, mentally.”
Davidson expressed a desire to be recognized for his craft rather than his personal life. “I want to be seen for doing good work—whether it’s in film, stand-up, charity, or business. I don’t want to be this loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”

Reflecting on his early career, Davidson acknowledged how he once felt compelled to accept every opportunity that came his way. Over time, he’s learned to prioritize what truly matters.
“The media picks a handful of celebs every couple of years and just destroys them,” he said. “For some reason, I was one of those people. But, in a way, it was a blessing. It gave me a chance to step back and ask, ‘What do you want to be? Who are you?’ I’m just a kid from Staten Island who wanted to do stand-up. Anything beyond that has been a miracle.”
Earlier this year, Davidson canceled a string of scheduled stand-up shows, opting instead to check into a wellness facility. His choice underscores a commitment to self-care and redefining his narrative, on his own terms.
