David Letterman Laughs Off Retirement: “It’s Nonsense”
Late-night legend continues to defy expectations with Netflix show

David Letterman, the iconic late-night host, isn’t ready to hang up his microphone just yet. At 77, the 8-time Emmy winner recently dismissed the idea of retirement, expressing surprise at his continued enthusiasm for hosting.
“Retirement is a myth. It’s nonsense. You won’t retire. The human mechanism won’t allow it,” Letterman told GQ. He added, “As long as you’re healthy, you still want to produce. And you will find ways to.”
Letterman, who first graced our screens in 1982 with “Late Night with David Letterman” on NBC, continues to defy age and expectations. He remains committed to his Netflix talk show, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” now in its fifth season.
Despite the demanding schedule, which often involves hosting three shows a night, Letterman remains passionate about his work. “I’m surprised at the number that I’m still doing it at now,” he admitted. “I think if I start in the middle of talking to a world-famous guest – I fall asleep.”
Even with the occasional exhaustion, Letterman is determined to keep entertaining audiences. As he said, “You got to find something that’s important to you.” And for Letterman, that something is clearly still late-night television.
