Arjun Kapoor Opens Up About Battling Loneliness and Personal Growth
In a candid conversation, Kapoor reflects on overcoming loneliness, balancing fame, and focusing on self-care amid the challenges of life and relationships.
Arjun Kapoor has long been known for his willingness to address complex topics like loneliness, fame, and the misconceptions surrounding him in Bollywood. Recently, the actor shared insights into his personal journey, revealing that while he once struggled with deep feelings of loneliness, he’s now focused on self-improvement and reconnecting with his life.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Kapoor discussed his past experiences with loneliness, particularly after his highly publicized relationship with Malaika Arora. Reflecting on an earlier time, he explained that loneliness first struck him in 2014, when he was coping with his mother’s passing and his sister’s move to another city to pursue her career. Despite achieving early success in films like Ishaqzaade, 2 States, and Gunday, Kapoor often found himself returning to an empty home, a reality that became increasingly difficult in his mid-20s. However, he emphasized that he has since moved forward and has worked on finding balance between his career and personal life.
“I think today, like I say this, I needed to just take care of myself,” Kapoor said. He admitted that prioritizing his own well-being was essential, clarifying that self-care should not be misinterpreted as selfishness. “I wasn’t okay because of other things; it wasn’t just loneliness or being alone. A lot has happened in my life and in my relationships.”
Kapoor also reflected on the importance of not projecting unresolved feelings of loneliness onto a relationship. “Whether you’re in a relationship or not, it’s tricky to navigate these feelings,” he shared. “I respect how things have unfolded in my life, and I choose not to conflate past struggles with where I am today.”
Now, Kapoor feels he has come a long way, leaving past loneliness behind. Although life’s challenges persist, he’s focused on continual growth and moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose.
