Lucy Hale Takes on an Antarctic Nightmare in Sci-Fi Thriller White Mars

Channeling Sci-Fi Icons, Hale Stars as a Microbiologist Battling an Unknown Evil in a High-Tech Production Set to Begin This November

In her upcoming film White Mars, Truth or Dare and Scream 4 star Lucy Hale steps into the shoes of a survivalist hero, reminiscent of Alien’s Ellen Ripley and The Thing’s R.J. MacReady. Hale will portray Sammie, a resilient microbiologist stationed at the isolated Aquila Research Facility in Antarctica, who must protect her crew from a malevolent force with a single aim—elimination.

Director Martin Owen (Above The Below) leads the project from a script by Matt Mitchell, Vicki Sargent, and Roo Berry. Production is set to begin on November 11, 2024, at Cinecittà Studios in Rome, utilizing an innovative virtual production setup for the entire shoot.

As the first feature announced under Singularity, a new entertainment company focused on virtual production and efficient, independent filmmaking, White Mars aims to bring cutting-edge visuals to the indie market. Hale, known for recent roles in Hulu’s Which Brings Me To You and the romantic comedy Puppy Love, expressed her excitement: “White Mars is an absolute psychological thrill ride, and I’m thrilled to film it in Rome. Sammie’s resilience and strength are qualities I can’t wait to bring to life alongside this talented team.”

Producer Matt Williams added, “We’re thrilled to have Lucy lead this action-packed sci-fi adventure. White Mars marks the first in a multi-film slate with XYZ and Singularity, bringing high-end, tech-driven production to the independent market and pushing visual boundaries for indie films.”
