Tabu Speaks Out on Singlehood and Personal Choices Amid New Role in Dune: Prophecy

Celebrating her 53rd birthday, Bollywood icon Tabu reflects on the public’s fascination with her private life and announces a role in the upcoming Dune prequel series.

As Bollywood’s beloved Tabu turned 53, she once again became the center of conversations around her personal life, a topic she’s famously guarded about. Back in 2017, Tabu addressed the curiosity surrounding her relationship status in an interview with Hindustan Times, expressing confusion over the fixation. “Honestly, it’s not that it has stopped bothering me; the fact remains that I’ve never been perturbed by this at all,” she shared. “I don’t see what the big deal is, being single or not. For me, that’s not a measure of someone’s worth. I don’t assess anyone by whether they’re married or have kids. If others do this for me, I’m not aware, nor do I want to be.”

When asked why she hasn’t married, Tabu gave a characteristically candid response, saying, “Why do you want to get into that? Why do you want to do my psychological analysis? This is a boring question. Ask me something else.”

During the 1990s, it was rumored that Tabu dated Telugu star Nagarjuna, though the two have remained private about their relationship. They worked together in two Telugu films, Aavida Maa Aavide and Ninne Pelladatha, but have kept details about their connection away from the public eye.

Moving forward in her career, Tabu is set to appear in the HBO series Dune: Prophecy, playing Sister Francesca in a story inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune: The Sisterhood. The series, featuring stars like Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Mark Strong, will stream on JioCinema in India in November. It serves as a prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s popular Dune films, adding a fresh chapter to the sci-fi saga.
