The Sabarmati Report: Vikrant Massey Delivers a Hard-Hitting Political Thriller

A fearless journalist confronts the truth behind the 2002 Godhra incident in this gripping investigative drama, set to release on November 15.

Vikrant Massey makes a powerful return to the big screen with The Sabarmati Report, an investigative political thriller that promises intense drama and thought-provoking storytelling. The recently released teaser showcases Vikrant as a determined journalist who refuses to back down, even when faced with legal prosecution and the threat of a ₹2 crore fine. His character boldly declares, “The culprits should be paying the penalty, not me,” setting the tone for a story about accountability, truth, and resistance.

Inspired by the real-life 2002 Godhra train burning incident, the film follows investigative journalists played by Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna. Together, they dig deep into the events of February 27, 2002, uncovering hidden truths about the tragedy that Vikrant’s character compares to “India’s 9/11.” The teaser offers glimpses of courtroom battles, emotional turmoil, and moments of social unrest, underscoring the power of journalism in the face of systemic challenges.

The official teaser, shared by Balaji Motion Pictures, carries the message: “Aaj ka Hindustan jawaab dena bhi jaanta hai, aur sawaal poochna bhi (Today’s India knows how to answer and ask questions). The truth can be rattled, but not defeated.” As the teaser concludes, Vikrant’s character delivers a striking line: “You cannot hide the truth. One day, every single child in this country will question you about Godhra.”

The film is directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan. The ensemble cast also features Riddhi Dogra in a pivotal role. With its thought-provoking premise and stellar performances, The Sabarmati Report is set to hit theaters on November 15, 2024.
