Chris Hemsworth in Talks to Star as Prince Charming in Disney’s New Fantasy Film
The ‘Thor’ star eyes the role of the iconic prince, teaming up with ‘Wonka’ director Paul King for Disney’s next project.

Chris Hemsworth is reportedly in discussions to play the beloved Prince Charming in Disney’s upcoming film centered on the legendary fairy-tale character. While Disney remains tight-lipped about whether the project will be live-action or animated, it’s confirmed that Paul King, director of the hit movie Wonka, will helm the project. King will also co-write the screenplay with Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker.
Hemsworth, known for his role as Marvel’s Thor, has kept a busy schedule recently. He lent his voice to Optimus Prime in the animated Transformers One and played the villain Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga alongside Anya Taylor-Joy.
The Australian actor’s next appearance will be in Amazon MGM Studios’ crime thriller Crime 101, joining an ensemble that includes Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan, and Mark Ruffalo. Directed by Bart Layton, the film follows a master jewel thief who evades capture by adhering to a code known as “Crime 101.” Based on Don Winslow’s short story, the narrative pits the thief against a determined detective who suspects the culprit is more than just a pawn of the Colombian cartels.
Meanwhile, Paul King continues his streak of successes. His film Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet, grossed $218 million in the U.S. and $634 million worldwide. King’s previous work on Paddington and Paddington 2 was also a triumph, collectively earning $615 million globally. Though King won’t return for the upcoming Paddington in Peru, he remains involved as a story contributor.
Disney has yet to officially comment on Hemsworth’s potential casting, but the news was first reported by The InSneider.
