Netflix Renews Hit Rom-Com ‘Nobody Wants This’ for a Second Season

New Showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan Join as the Series Continues Its Global Success

Netflix has officially renewed its popular rom-com series Nobody Wants This for a second season, proving that audiences can’t get enough of the show’s charming blend of humor and romance. The announcement was made by Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria at Bloomberg’s Screentime conference on Thursday.

Season two will see a change in leadership behind the scenes, with Girls alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan stepping in as showrunners, replacing Jack Burditt. Series creator Erin Foster will remain on board as an executive producer and writer.

The renewal comes just two weeks after the show’s premiere, which quickly soared to the top of Netflix’s charts. Nobody Wants This initially debuted in second place on the platform’s global rankings for English-language series, before climbing to the number one spot for the week of September 30 to October 6. Over its first 11 days, the series garnered nearly 90 million hours of viewing worldwide, equivalent to 26.2 million full-season watches.

“Creating Nobody Wants This has been an absolute career highlight,” said Foster. “The cast, crew, producers, and everyone involved have made this show what it is, and the response from viewers has been more than I ever imagined. I’m thrilled to continue this journey, especially alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, whose work on Girls I’ve long admired. Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

The series stars Kristen Bell as a podcaster who crosses paths with an unconventional rabbi, played by Adam Brody, at a party. As they navigate their undeniable chemistry, they grapple with their differences — including his faith and her agnosticism. The ensemble cast also includes Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Emily Arlook, Jackie Tohn, Sherry Cola, and Shiloh Berman.

Jenni Konner shared her excitement about joining the project, saying, “It’s a dream to work on Nobody Wants This. Erin Foster has such a distinct and collaborative voice as a creator. I’ve been a fan of this show and feel incredibly lucky to reunite with Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls to continue telling this story.”

Kaplan added, “I’m beyond thrilled to be part of season two of Nobody Wants This. Erin has created something truly special, and I’m already having the time of my life working on it.”

With its unique storyline and growing fan base, Nobody Wants This is poised to capture even more hearts in its upcoming second season.
