Continuing the cinematic universe established by director Prasanth Varma’s hit HanuMan, the third film in this universe, Mahakali, is being teased with a visually stunning poster and motion video. This project is being presented by RKD Studios, a well-known Indian distribution company, marking its debut feature film.

Prasanth Varma took to social media to share the announcement video, writing, “Breaking stereotypes this Navratri, @rkdstudios and @thepvcu proudly present the most FEROCIOUS SUPERHERO in the universe, the true embodiment of Goddess Kali, the destroyer of evil. From the universe of #HanuMan, rise of ~ #MAHAKALI. Prepare for the @prasanthvarmaofficial Vision.”

Mahakali will be the first Indian female superhero film, written by Varma and directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru. The film is produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal and presented by RK Duggal. Set in Bengal, the story merges themes of ancient mythology and spirituality with contemporary social issues.

The film explores the immense spiritual force of Goddess Kali while tackling themes like reclaiming identity, inner strength, and confronting discrimination. The title logo features a dramatic visual of a girl and a tiger, set against a chaotic circus backdrop as flames engulf a massive wheel.

In a significant move, the filmmakers have confirmed that a dark-skinned actress will lead the cast, emphasizing the film’s focus on inclusivity and breaking stereotypes. With production design by Sri Nagendra Tangalla and music composed by Smaran Sai, Mahakali will be released in 3D IMAX across multiple Indian languages and select international languages, promising a grand visual experience.
