Triptii Dimri’s Journey from Novice to Rising Star in Bollywood

From Tears to Triumph: How Triptii Dimri Overcame Her Struggles to Shine in the Film Industry

riptii Dimri appeared in several films before becoming a household name with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal last year. Kicking off 2024 with a blockbuster, she starred alongside Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk in Bad Newz, which quickly became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year. Despite her current success, Dimri’s early days in acting were far from smooth. Recalling her struggles during the filming of Laila Majnu, she confessed to going home in tears because she couldn’t grasp what her director or co-star were discussing.

In her upcoming film, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, a comic caper with Rajkummar Rao, Triptii reflects on her journey from Garhwal, Uttarakhand, to Mumbai. While promoting the film, she opened up about how unfamiliar she was with the nuances of acting when she first moved to the city. Despite her academic struggles, she told The Hollywood Reporter India that she expressed to her parents a desire to try modeling. However, being shy and introverted, her decision to pursue a career in entertainment initially worried her family, especially since she had barely ventured out of Delhi.

Although her parents were hesitant, Triptii was determined to chase her dreams. In 2017, she landed a role in Poster Boys, but acting alongside seasoned stars like Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Shreyas Talpade proved overwhelming for her. In her own words, she didn’t know the “A” of acting and wasn’t satisfied with her performance. The Bulbbul actress recalled being rejected for her first audition for Laila Majnu but later securing the role after persistent effort.

Triptii shared that during rehearsals, she would sit clueless as her director, Sajid Ali, and co-star Avinash Tiwary discussed character development and backstory. “I would go home and cry, thinking, ‘Am I doing the right thing?’ because I didn’t understand anything they were talking about,” she admitted, adding that she often considered quitting. Despite those doubts, she persevered, evolving into the talented actress she is today.
