The Dhoom franchise, a cornerstone of Indian action-thriller cinema, is set to return with its highly anticipated fourth installment. Aditya Chopra, the powerhouse producer behind the series, is preparing to revive the franchise with Dhoom 4, also known as Dhoom Reloaded. In a significant development, Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is expected to take center stage in this new chapter. According to sources, pre-production is already in progress, and filming is expected to begin by late 2025 or early 2026.
An insider close to the project shared, “Aditya Chopra is deeply passionate about the Dhoom series and aims to refresh it for the modern audience. Like the previous films, Aditya has teamed up with director Vijay Krishna Acharya to craft the script for Dhoom Reloaded. This film promises to deliver a cinematic experience like never before.” The source further added, “Ranbir Kapoor has been involved in discussions for quite some time, and after hearing the core concept, he was immediately interested. He’s now officially on board to lead the franchise, with Aditya believing Ranbir is the ideal actor to carry the Dhoom legacy forward.”
The upcoming film aims to be a “tentpole feature of international standards,” according to reports. In addition to Kapoor’s role, two other prominent younger actors are being considered for the parts of police friends who will feature alongside the lead. With the storyboard now locked, casting for these roles will begin soon. As per the insider, Dhoom 4 is set to be the biggest and most ambitious film of the series, raising the bar for Indian cinema on a global scale.
