Matthias Schoenaerts Cast as Villain in DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Milly Alcock to Lead as Kara Zor-El in a Sci-Fi Twist on the Superhero Saga Directed by Craig Gillespie

Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts has been tapped to play the main villain in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, an upcoming DC Studios film directed by Craig Gillespie.
Milly Alcock, known for her role in *House of the Dragon*, will star as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. This new take on the Supergirl story is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic series, marking a departure from the more traditional portrayal seen in the CW’s *Supergirl* show. Rather than a straightforward superhero adventure, the film will delve into a grand sci-fi narrative.
The comic tells the story of a young alien girl who seeks Supergirl’s help to avenge her family’s murder, with the antagonist being Krem of the Yellow Hills, who is responsible for her father’s death. Supergirl becomes embroiled in the conflict after Krypto, the beloved superdog, is injured by Krem.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second DC Studios project to begin filming, following James Gunn’s *Superman: Legacy*. Production is set to start in the U.K. in January, with a release date slated for June 26, 2026.
Schoenaerts, known for his roles in HBO’s The Regime and Sky’s Django, has also starred in films like Rust and Bone with Marion Cotillard, Red Sparrow alongside Jennifer Lawrence, and The Old Guard with Charlize Theron.
