Jennifer Aniston Reflects on ‘Friends’ Magic, Doubts She’ll Ever Do Another Sitcom

The beloved actress reminisces about her favorite role on the iconic 90s sitcom and explains why it set a standard that’s hard to match.

Jennifer Aniston has fond memories of her time filming Friends — so much so that she’s unsure if she’ll ever return to another sitcom. The iconic show, which aired from 1994 to 2004, catapulted Aniston and her co-stars—David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry—into international fame.

Speaking on the SmartLess podcast, Aniston was asked if she would consider working on another comedy series. Her response hinted at a deep connection to her time on *Friends*. “If I knew it would be the same experience as I had with those guys, yes, but I doubt that will ever happen,” she said.

Aniston described Friends as her favorite job throughout her entire career, citing the filming schedule as something she still misses daily. “It’s the best schedule ever on the planet,” she added.

Nearly 30 years since its finale, Friends continues to be one of the world’s most beloved sitcoms. Its series finale, “The Last One,” was watched by a staggering 52 million viewers in the U.S. alone and remains one of the most-watched TV episodes of all time.

While each of the six leads went on to enjoy individual success, Aniston has recently starred in Apple TV+’s The Morning Show. Schwimmer, Cox, Kudrow, and LeBlanc have continued their work in television comedies across the U.S. and the U.K. Sadly, the Friends family lost one of its own in 2023, when Matthew Perry passed away due to a drug overdose.
