Malavika Mohanan Opens Up About Lifelong Bond with Vicky Kaushal and Childhood Memories

Malavika Mohanan, widely celebrated for her work in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries, recently made her Bollywood return in the action-thriller Yudhra, which hit screens on September 20. In a candid interview, the actress shared endearing stories about her lifelong friendship with Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal, highlighting the deep connection they have maintained since childhood.

Speaking to Filmygyan during a rapid-fire segment, Malavika described Vicky as a “forever friend,” explaining that their bond dates back to her earliest memories. “I’ve known him since I was just 1 year old,” she revealed. “We were neighbors growing up, living in the same building. Our families became friends, and we’ve been close ever since.”

Malavika fondly recalled a memorable picnic the two shared at Aksa Beach, where they spent the day playing by the shore, packing chips and sandwiches for the outing. She shared that the tradition of staying in touch remains strong, particularly around Diwali. “We meet every Diwali,” she said. “It’s a family tradition to celebrate together.”

Fans might also remember Malavika attending Vicky Kaushal’s high-profile wedding to Katrina Kaif in Jaipur. Though she didn’t explicitly mention the wedding in her social media posts, Malavika shared a selfie in a gorgeous purple outfit from Rajasthan, captioned, “Hello from one of my favorite states in India—Rajasthan.”

Malavika and Vicky’s bond extends beyond celebrations. Earlier, the two families came together for an Onam celebration, a festival deeply rooted in Malavika’s cultural heritage. She posted a collection of warm photos capturing the occasion, one of which featured her and Vicky beaming with joy. “Childhood friends, family, yummy food & lots of laughter. Best way to spend Onam!” she wrote, adding a personal touch with the hashtag #OnamSadhyaPhotoDump.

Yudhra marks Malavika’s second major Bollywood project, following her Hindi film debut in 2017’s Beyond The Clouds. While she’s already established herself in South Indian cinema, this high-octane film is expected to further solidify her presence in Bollywood.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is preparing for his role in Laxman Utekar’s historical epic Chhava, where he will portray Sambhaji, the son of the legendary Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji. He is also set to star in Love and War, sharing the screen with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
