Miya Cech Cast as Toph in Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2

Young Actor to Portray Iconic Earthbender in Highly Anticipated Season 02

Netflix has unveiled the casting of Miya Cech as Toph Beifong, the fan-favorite Earthbender, in the upcoming second season of its live-action adaptation of *Avatar: The Last Airbender. The announcement was made during the streaming giant’s Geeked Week event, accompanied by a teaser clip.

Toph’s casting has been a highly anticipated moment for fans of the original animated series. The character, known for her sass, confidence, and exceptional earthbending skills, is considered one of the most beloved and influential figures in the Avatar universe.

To ensure a faithful portrayal of Toph, Netflix launched an open casting call in June specifically seeking blind and low vision performers. The casting call described Toph as “sassy, confident, and unfiltered,” emphasizing her uninhibited nature and fierce warrior spirit.

Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place in a world divided into four nations, each with its own unique bending ability. The Avatar is the only individual capable of bending all four elements. The series stars Gordon Cormier as Avatar Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, and other talented actors.

Cech brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously appeared in Netflix’s *You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah* and *Beef*. She has also starred in the Apple TV+ series Surfside Girls.
