KL Rahul Opens Up About the Painful Aftermath of His Controversial Koffee With Karan Appearance

Lucknow Super Giants captain reveals how the suspension scarred him and changed his outlook on life

KL Rahul, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, has finally spoken out about the controversial appearance on Koffee With Karan that led to his suspension from the Indian cricket team. In a candid interview with Nikhil Kamath, Rahul admitted that the experience left him deeply scarred and changed his perspective on life.

The incident unfolded when Rahul and Hardik Pandya appeared on the popular talk show and made a series of insensitive and offensive remarks. Their comments sparked widespread outrage and criticism, leading to their suspension from the BCCI and the Indian team.

Reflecting on the controversy, Rahul revealed how the suspension was a major shock to him, as he had never faced any disciplinary action in his life. He described the experience as a “first fall” that taught him a harsh lesson about the consequences of his words.

“That (KWK interview and subsequent backlash) was my first (fall), and then you realise how bad it is,” Rahul said. “Now I don’t (do that) because that (KWK) interview scarred me massively. Getting suspended from the team. I have never been suspended in school, I have never been punished in school. Matlab woh hua hi nahi hai mere saath (All this never happened to me). I don’t know how to handle it. I did mischievous things in schools like chota mota (small things), but nothing to get me expelled from school or my parents have had to come.”

Rahul’s interview offers a glimpse into the personal toll that the controversy took on him. It serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and the potential consequences of careless words.
