Rajkummar Rao Improvised Iconic Stree Scene Using Shah Rukh Khan as Inspiration

Actor Reveals How He Created Hilarious Climax Sequence

Rajkummar Rao, known for his versatile performances, recently opened up about the iconic climax scene in the 2018 film “Stree.” During a conversation with Raj Shamani on YouTube, the actor revealed that he improvised the hilarious sequence using Shah Rukh Khan’s expressions as inspiration.

In the scene, Rao’s character, Vicky, is asked to gaze into the eyes of a witch with love, despite being terrified. Rao, a self-proclaimed fan of Shah Rukh Khan, shared that men in India often associate love with the superstar. “Whenever we think of love, the first image that comes to mind is Shah Rukh Khan,” he said.

Rao explained that he improvised the scene by mimicking the superstar’s facial expressions. “I improvised it there, which people cracked up laughing. In theaters, people were going nuts over that scene,” he added.

The actor also praised the film’s director, Amar Kaushik, for giving him the freedom to experiment on set. “He gives us the freedom to try different things, even if it’s not written in the script,” Rao said. However, he noted that Kaushik always provides feedback if a scene doesn’t work.

In a previous interview, Rao expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, calling him the “epitome of romance.” The actor also shared his desire to star in romantic films, saying that he is a “die-hard romantic at heart.”

“Stree 2,” the sequel to the original film, was released on August 15, 2024, and faced competition from “Khel Khel Mein” and “Vedaa” at the box office.
