Mahesh Babu to Roar as Mufasa in Telugu ‘The Lion King’ Prequel

Telugu Trailer to Debut on August 26

Actor Mahesh Babu is set to lend his voice to the Telugu version of Disney’s highly anticipated prequel, “Mufasa: The Lion King.” The film, which explores the origins of the legendary lion king, is scheduled to hit Indian theaters on December 20.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film promises to bring a new dimension to the beloved story. Mahesh Babu, known for his charismatic on-screen presence, will voice the titular character, Mufasa, bringing his distinctive voice to the iconic role.

Expressing his excitement about the collaboration, Mahesh Babu shared, “Disney’s legacy of entertainment and timeless storytelling has always inspired me. Mufasa’s character resonates deeply with me, not only as a loving father but also as a supreme king. This experience is incredibly special as I can share it with my family. I look forward to watching ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ in Telugu on the big screen with my fans.”

Bikram Duggal, Head of Studios at Disney Star, added, “Our goal is to engage audiences across the country and provide them with a cinematic experience in their preferred language. Mufasa is a character who has inspired generations, and we are thrilled to have Mahesh Babu bring his voice to the Telugu version.”

Joining Mahesh Babu in the Hindi version of the film are Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, his son Aryan Khan, and his youngest son, AbRam Khan. Shah Rukh Khan will reprise his role as Mufasa, while Aryan Khan will voice Simba, Mufasa’s son. AbRam Khan will voice young Mufasa.
