Ajay Devgn’s ‘Raid 2’ Postponed: New Release Date Confirmed by Director Raj Kumar Gupta
After the success of ‘Raid,’ the highly anticipated sequel starring Ajay Devgn is set to hit theaters early next year, confirms director Raj Kumar Gupta.

Filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta achieved notable success in 2018 with ‘Raid,’ featuring Ajay Devgn. The film, based on real events, depicted an honest income tax officer conducting a significant raid, earning both critical acclaim and box office success.
The film’s success paved the way for ‘Raid 2,’ once again starring Devgn in the lead role. Initially slated for a November 15 release, plans changed when another Ajay Devgn film, ‘Singham Again,’ moved its release to November 1 from the originally planned August 15 date.
Rumors circulated earlier this year about the possibility of ‘Raid 2’ being postponed to avoid having two Devgn films released within a fortnight. Now, director Raj Kumar Gupta has confirmed the delay according to Bollywood Hungama, shedding light on the new timeline for the film’s release.
“‘Raid 2’ is set to release early next year,” Gupta stated. “The exact release date will be announced by the producers, but it’s definitely happening early next year.”
In the original ‘Raid,’ Saurabh Shukla played the antagonist, but in ‘Raid 2,’ Riteish Deshmukh will take on the role of Devgn’s nemesis. Interestingly, Gupta’s recent web show ‘Pill’ also featured Deshmukh, where he played a protagonist fighting against a corrupt pharmaceutical company.
Discussing the experience of directing Deshmukh in two contrasting roles, Gupta shared, “More details about ‘Raid 2’ will be revealed when the promotions start, including information about Deshmukh’s character. However, working with him on both ‘Pill’ and ‘Raid 2’ has been a great experience.”
