Timothee Chalamet Paddles Up for Lead in Safdie’s “Marty Supreme”

A24 Film Hints at Table Tennis Connection

Timothée Chalamet, fresh off his work on major films like “Dune: Part Two” and “Wonka,” is in final negotiations to take the lead in Josh Safdie’s upcoming feature “Marty Supreme” for A24. The project marks Safdie’s first solo directorial effort since 2008 and reunites him with A24, the production company behind his acclaimed films “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems” (both co-directed with his brother Benny Safdie).

Details regarding “Marty Supreme” are scarce, though A24’s social media teaser hints at a connection to table tennis. The film is confirmed to be a fictionalized story, co-written by Safdie and frequent collaborator Ronald Bronstein. Bronstein also co-wrote Safdie brothers’ previous films “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems.”

Chalamet will reportedly serve as a producer alongside Safdie, Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas. This project comes on the heels of Chalamet’s upcoming role as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic “A Complete Unknown,” where he will also hold a producer credit.
