Andrew Garfield Joins Julia Roberts in Luca Guadagnino’s Academic Thriller ‘After the Hunt’

Garfield negotiates lead role opposite Roberts in Amazon MGM Studios feature, delving into academia’s dark secrets

Acclaimed actor Andrew Garfield is set to star alongside Julia Roberts in the upcoming thriller “After the Hunt,” directed by renowned filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. The film, set in the intriguing world of academia, is slated to be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with production scheduled to commence this summer.

In “After the Hunt,” Garfield will portray a significant character opposite Roberts, who plays a college professor grappling with her own troubled past when one of her colleagues is accused by a prominent student. The narrative promises to explore the complexities of academia while delving into the characters’ personal struggles and dark secrets.

The project is brought to fruition by Imagine Entertainment, with Allan Mandelbaum leading the charge. Mandelbaum, in collaboration with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), successfully roped in both Roberts and Guadagnino for the film. Alongside Mandelbaum, Brian Grazer from Imagine Entertainment joins Guadagnino as a producer for “After the Hunt.”

Garfield, a two-time Oscar nominee known for his versatile performances, is on the heels of his recent projects, including the romantic film “We Live in Time” and his acclaimed portrayal in the FX series “Under the Banner of Heaven,” which earned him an Emmy nomination. Additionally, audiences will recognize him for reprising his iconic role as Peter Parker in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” He is represented by Gordon & French, CAA, ID, and Sloane Offer.

Luca Guadagnino, celebrated for his directorial prowess showcased in films like “Call Me by Your Name” and “Suspiria,” takes the helm for “After the Hunt.” His collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios continues following the release of “Challengers,” starring Zendaya, last month.

Julia Roberts, with an illustrious career spanning decades, adds yet another intriguing project to her repertoire with “After the Hunt.” Recent credits include the Universal romantic comedy “Ticket to Paradise” alongside George Clooney and the Netflix thriller “Leave the World Behind” featuring Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
