Julia Garner Secures Lead Role in Zach Cregger’s Horror Epic ‘Weapons’
The Emmy-winning actress continues her rise as she joins an interrelated horror project alongside Josh Brolin

Julia Garner, rapidly ascending as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after talents, has clinched the lead role in “Weapons,” a horror film by New Line Cinema helmed by filmmaker Zach Cregger.
Set to commence shooting in mid-May in Atlanta, Garner will star opposite Josh Brolin in this highly anticipated feature.
Cregger penned the screenplay for “Weapons,” shrouding its details in secrecy. Described as an interwoven, multi-story horror saga, the film’s tone is likened to that of “Magnolia,” the actor-packed masterpiece by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.
This project marks a reunion for the Barbarian producing team. Cregger serves as producer alongside Roy Lee of Vertigo, and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Additionally, Miri Yoon from Vertigo is onboard as a producer.
Garner first garnered attention for her Emmy-winning performance in Netflix’s acclaimed crime series “Ozark.” Since concluding her tenure on that show, she’s been swiftly landing major roles in big-studio productions, solidifying her status as a go-to talent in the industry. Currently, she’s in post-production for Paramount’s psychological thriller “Apartment 7A” and concurrently filming Blumhouse/Universal’s “Wolf Man” opposite Christopher Abbott, directed by Leigh Whannell in New Zealand.
In a recent coup, Garner secured the role of the Silver Surfer in Marvel’s “Fantastic Four.” Alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, filming for this feature is slated to take place after “Weapons,” in London during late summer.
