Drew Barrymore Excitedly Reveals Adam Sandler’s Confirmation of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Writing Progress

Longtime Friends and Co-stars Exchange Exciting News About Possible Sequel to Beloved Classic Film

Drew Barrymore has stirred up excitement in fans by sharing updates on the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 comedy hit “Happy Gilmore.” After comments from Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin, hinted at Adam Sandler’s work on a sequel, Barrymore took matters into her own hands to confirm the news.

During a sneak peek of the latest episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Barrymore disclosed details of her conversation with Sandler, igniting further speculation about the potential sequel. She expressed her eagerness, emphasizing her deep connection to the original film and her desire for its continuation.

“I want it. I need it. I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison,” Barrymore shared. “I sent Sandler a video [of it]. He sent me another video back, and I’m waiting to see if he’s confirming about the Happy Gilmore 2 script.”

Following a commercial break, Barrymore revealed that Sandler had indeed responded, affirming McDonald’s earlier statements. “This just in, I have breaking news — I’ll just say this from my source, that it is ‘in process.'”

McDonald had previously sparked excitement during an appearance on “The Ken Carman Show With Anthony Lima,” where he disclosed that Sandler had shown him a first draft of the sequel. Sandler’s unexpected reveal to McDonald had initially been met with surprise, but McDonald couldn’t contain his excitement, believing that fans would demand the sequel.

Netflix, where Sandler has a lucrative deal for his films, remained tight-lipped about the potential project when approached for comment. Similarly, representatives for Sandler declined to provide further details.

Sandler himself later admitted on the “Dan Patrick Show” that McDonald had breached confidentiality by sharing the news publicly. However, Sandler seemed unperturbed, indicating that discussions about a sequel had indeed been underway for some time.

With fans eagerly awaiting more news, Barrymore’s revelation adds to the growing anticipation surrounding the potential return of “Happy Gilmore” to the big screen.
