“Black Doves,” penned and created by Joe Barton, the mastermind behind “The Lazarus Project,” unfolds its narrative against the festive backdrop of London. The series follows Helen Webb (played by Keira Knightley), a sharp-witted, grounded wife, mother, and professional spy. For a decade, she’s been funneling her husband’s political secrets to the clandestine organization she serves: the Black Doves. However, when her clandestine lover Jason (portrayed by Andrew Koji) falls victim to an assassination, Helen’s enigmatic spymaster Reed (portrayed by Sarah Lancashire) summons her old ally Sam (played by Ben Whishaw) to ensure her safety. Together, Helen and Sam embark on a quest to uncover the truth behind Jason’s murder, unveiling a sprawling web of conspiracy that connects the shadowy depths of London’s underworld to an impending global crisis.
“Black Doves” is a joint production between Barton’s Noisy Bear and Sister, founded by Elizabeth Murdoch, known for their work on “Chernobyl.” Joe Barton serves as executive producer for Noisy Bear alongside Jane Featherstone (“This Is Going To Hurt”) and Chris Fry (“Giri/Haji”) for Sister, along with Keira Knightley. The series is helmed by directors Alex Gabassi (“The Crown”) and Lisa Gunning (“The Power”), with Harry Munday (“Kaos”) serving as producer.
