Game of Thrones Creators Return with Stellar Sci-Fi Series ‘3 Body Problem’ Featuring Familiar Faces

The masterminds behind the cultural phenomenon “Game of Thrones,” David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, are back with another groundbreaking television series. Teaming up with acclaimed writer Alexander Woo, known for his work on “True Blood,” Benioff and Weiss are set to adapt Liu Cixin’s renowned sci-fi novels into a visually stunning series titled “3 Body Problem.”

Reuniting with the creators are two familiar faces from “Game of Thrones”: Liam Cunningham, who portrayed the beloved Davos Seaworth, and John Bradley, best known as the dependable Samwell Tarly. In this new venture, Cunningham takes on the role of a seasoned police detective investigating a series of scientist murders with perplexing circumstances. Meanwhile, Bradley joins as a member of the ‘Oxford Five,’ a group of scientists drawn together following the mysterious death of one of their colleagues.

In an exclusive interview with GamesRadar+, both actors express their excitement about collaborating once again with Benioff and Weiss. For Bradley, the decision to join the project was a no-brainer, citing his unwavering trust in the duo’s creative vision. Having dedicated a decade to “Game of Thrones,” Bradley initially hesitated to commit to another long-term series but found himself drawn back by the prospect of working with Benioff and Weiss.

Similarly, Cunningham shares his eagerness to reunite with the acclaimed showrunners, even turning down other opportunities to be part of their latest venture. Reflecting on the moment he received the call from Benioff and Weiss, Cunningham recalls feeling a mix of nerves and excitement, unsure of what lay ahead. However, upon receiving the scripts, his reservations vanished, replaced by admiration for the compelling story and his unexpected character arc.

As production gears up for “3 Body Problem,” anticipation mounts for another gripping narrative brought to life by the dynamic collaboration between Benioff, Weiss, and a talented ensemble cast.
